Authorities investigating possible oil spill in Huntington

"A possible oil spill has been reported in one of Huntington’s
waterways.

According to Huntington County Emergency Management and the Huntington City Fire Department, personnel are investigating a potential oil spill in the Little River.
Reports state the location under investigation is near Broadway and State streets, residents are being asked to avoid the area.
The organization says authorities have confirmed that the possible spill poses no risk to drinking water."

2.9 magnitude earthquake felt in northeastern Indiana and Ohio

"An
earthquake struck outside of Hicksville, Ohio, next to the Indiana border, and was felt in northeastern Indiana.
The US Geographical Survey said the 2.9 magnitude earthquake hit around 6:50 a.m. ET Dec. 29.
Most of the 257 people that reported they felt the earthquake said there was light shaking." WANEtv

Evacuation

"Leaders with the Huntington City Police Department are evacuating a portion of the city, west of downtown, as crews respond to a gas main break.
The department posted on its Facebook page just after 10 a.m. Thursday saying a large gas main was struck at West Park Drive and N Lafontaine Street, near Gary’s Auto Sales.
Police are asking everyone to avoid that area as crews work to repair the main.
The Huntington County Sheriff’s Office says residents within a one-block area of the main have already been evacuated."

Explosion Injures Three at Former IMCO Plant on Park Dr

"Three workers sustained minor injuries following an explosion Monday, June 17, at the former IMCO rubber manufacturing facility. The incident occurred just after 1:05 p.m. at 1819 West Park Dr, also known as Business U.S. 24. The site is located near the city’s western limits, opposite Mount Hope Cemetery.
Upon arrival, Huntington Fire crews encountered multiple small fires and light smoke, which they extinguished swiftly. The injured employees were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries." Yahoo

Roanoke Floods

"Roads in Roanoke had to be shut down Tuesday due to high water as heavy rain swept through northeast Indiana.
The Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department warned people to stay away from Mahon Road due to standing water more than two feet deep.
The fire department told WANE 15 a vehicle with one adult and four children inside was stuck in the water, and firefighters were able to safely rescue everyone inside."
