Explosion Injures Three at Former IMCO Plant on Park Dr

"Three workers sustained minor injuries following an explosion Monday, June 17, at the former IMCO rubber manufacturing facility. The incident occurred just after 1:05 p.m. at 1819 West Park Dr, also known as Business U.S. 24. The site is located near the city’s western limits, opposite Mount Hope Cemetery.

Upon arrival, Huntington Fire crews encountered multiple small fires and light smoke, which they extinguished swiftly. The injured employees were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries." Yahoo

Roanoke Floods

"Roads in Roanoke had to be shut down Tuesday due to high water as heavy rain swept through northeast Indiana.

The Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department warned people to stay away from Mahon Road due to standing water more than two feet deep.
The fire department told WANE 15 a vehicle with one adult and four children inside was stuck in the water, and firefighters were able to safely rescue everyone inside."

US Marshals & Markle Murder

"More than a month after a man accused of killing his grandmother

disappeared from Markle, US Marshals found him in Georgia.

Anthony Castleman, 37, is now in custody, the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department announced on Facebook Tuesday afternoon.

Castleman is charged with murder in the homicide of his grandmother, 72-year-old Bernice D. Eubank, who was found dead Nov. 12 near a shed at her Markle home– the same home where Castleman lived." WANEtv

ATM Scam

"Three people were arrested Saturday on probable cause for placing a card skimming device on an ATM machine in Huntington.

According to a Facebook post from the Huntington City Police

Department, they received a call about the device on the Flagstar Bank ATM located on Guilford Street at 4:10 p.m. Officers then arrived and found the device. Soon after, HPD detectives and FBI were made aware of the situation.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, officers encountered three people believed to be involved with placing the device on the ATM.

Huntington Superior Court documents released Monday identified

the suspects as Giovanni Mazzone, Iulian Dumbrava and Lucian Neagu. Dumbrava was named the suspect seen on surveillance putting the device on the ATM, Neagu was said to be the one standing next to him, and Mazzone was identified as the suspect taking back the device the next day, according to the documents.

Each person was taken into custody on the following counts:Unlawful possession of a skimming device – Level 6 felonyCriminal Organization Activity – Level 6 felonyCriminal Mischief – A Misdemeanor

Federal charges are still pending at this time. HPD also has reason to believe these three are members of “a criminal organization involved in a series of similar scams at other branches.”

Court documents indicate people using the same tools and methods and dressed the same were spotted around at least three ATMs in Fort Wayne as well.

Officers do not believe any information was taken by the device. HPD advises all possible ATM users at the Guilford Street location to contact their bank for precautionary measures." WANETV

"A park in Huntington had some very special visitors on Tuesday.

Iconic 70s rock band The Guess Who visited the Sunken Gardens earlier in the week to shoot footage for one of their latest music videos.

The Canadian group boasts a catalog of chart-topping songs like “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” and “No Time.” The band has put out 11 studio albums, with two number-one hits in the U.S.

Huntington Parks & Recreation posted the exciting news to Facebook on Wednesday, saying their park programs director also had a chance to meet the band and take photos." WPTA21

"The serving of a search warrant turned into a standoff that lasted
nearly four hours at a home in northeast Huntington on Thursday, according to the Huntington Police Department (HPD).

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the HPD attempted to execute a warrant at a home in the 1600 block of Sabine Street.

Police could be heard saying they have a search warrant for the home and that someone inside needed to exit the home.

The serving of a search warrant turned into a standoff that lasted nearly four hours at a home in northeast Huntington.

Two individuals were taken into custody without incident, but the HPD said a third person, identified as Brandon Bryant, barricaded himself inside a crawl space under the home.

The HPD said Bryant is a known offender is and “known to carry weapons.”

At approximately 9:05 p.m., authorities were able to make contact with Bryant, who surrendered without further incident.

The incident remains under investigation by the HPD. They were assisted at the scene by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team, the Fort Wayne Police Department, and several other surrounding agencies." WaneTV

by a semi-truck that police said intentionally slammed into it before leading police on a chase.

A semi-truck and trailer that was stolen from Chesterton, Indiana, was spotted in the Warren Travel Plaza at I-69 and State Road 5.

Huntington County Deputy McVoy was the first to arrive. He found the semi and saw someone was in it.

The person inside the truck, identified only as a 34-year-old male from Crown Point, drove away when McVoy tried to speak with him, the Huntington County Sheriff's Office said. 

McVoy ran back to his patrol car and got inside it. Then, authorities said the man purposely crashed into McVoy's car, totaling it. The truck eventually drove into a field, and the driver got out and ran. Officers chased the driver and arrested him." NBC33
